Unlike the US, tipping is not mandatory in India, but it's appreciated. The standard:
• Restaurants: 5-10% if service charge isn't already added
• Service charge: if you see it on the bill, that's the tip — skip the extra
• Delivery: ₹20-50 is generous
• Valet, doorman, porter: ₹20-50
GST tip: tip should be calculated on the food subtotal, not the GST. If the bill shows GST separately, our "bill includes GST" toggle removes it before calculating the tip — fair to both you and the waiter.
